Disadvantages:
Impact on Social Life:
Different working styles have made a difference to social life too. These include having to change your timetable/schedule because friends may visit you while you are ‘at work’, as they may not know you are actually doing work but at home. This can be a disadvantage, as it can be a distraction.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Overall, the advancements in different working styles allow people to work as well as on the move or away from home. This is great, as you can don’t have to worry about losing your USB, if you have work on Dropbox, etc. Likewise, you can spend more time on leisure and activities whenever you want to. For example, if you have work on a particular day, but you have already organised a day out on the same day, you can chose to get your work over and done with the day before, so you don’t have to worry at all when you are on your day out. Conversely, people may find different working styles, such as mobility or teleworking to be distractive, as you are either working at home; where there is your family and often visits of friends, and so, you are not getting enough work done. Likewise, different working styles such as teleworking may become and feel like isolation, as you are not communicating with your colleagues face to face. In conclusion, I think that these advancements may be a distraction to aspects such as employees becoming easily distracted. However, I do believe that these advancements have made a difference, because it makes it easier and easily accessible.
- Some people may get distracted, as they cannot concentrate on their family life while doing work. Therefore, less work is done, as with distraction from home, you may be more involved in other things, rather than work. Also, if friends come and visit, they may not understand why you are doing your work at home and not socialising with them. Consequently, you will socialise more than actually doing your work.
- Also, people may lose their ability to flexibly work and also independently, as friends may come over while you are doing work, so you have to change your schedule.
